"In letting go, all gets done" - Lao Tzu
So many soap boxes to stand uponand so many things to spout about. But who bothers to pop their head into the door of their own heart, whisper "I love you" and maybe even stay a while longer to enjoy a cup of tea?
Go ahead. Make your day!
I hope this news finds you well. I'm aware you've not heard much from me this year. I've been creating lots of music that will hopefully materialise in the form a CD before too long. It's always a surprising journey with creative projects. You may set out with an intention, but it evolves in unpredictable ways. A bit like life I guess.
One of the greatest lessons I'm learning through this creative process is patience. It is clear that when I start desiring or wanting, the suffering is almost instantaneous. Desiring the project to be finished, desiring more time in a day, desiring other things to be different from what they are..... As soon as I let go and stop trying to control an outcome, I am back in the creative flow, free to play or do what is needed in the moment.
Is there something you are desiring or wanting right now? Is the desiring keeping you stuck or blocking your flow? What happens if you let it go?
Tune-in to beingness and Tune-out the mind chatter
Self-loving action can be as simple as taking 5mins here and there during your day to tune-in to your "beingness". If you make this a habit, you will soon find it easier and easier to tune-out the mind chatter and outside noise whenever you want to. It's about being able to access a sense of space inside so your thoughts are more like faint whispers in the background.
A great way to practice this is turning an every day action into a meditation. Simply slow the action right down to bring awareness to every detail of the experience. It could be drinking your morning cup of tea, a walk in the park or focusing on your breathing in any situation.
For example, a tea meditation would mean you tune in to all the sensations; the movement of the different muscles in your body as you make the tea, the movement of bringing the cup to your mouth, feeling the cup in your hands, the warmth of tea as it touches your lips, the taste, the sounds of pouring, stirring, sipping... all the while breathing...
Our inner space is fertile ground. It's often from this relaxed, open, empty space where we get in touch with what we really need to get in touch with. This could be emotions we've been consciously or unconsciously avoiding or an awareness of what our body is needing (or crying out for!). Creating inner space allows insights and inspiration to "drop in" without effort. Solutions to problems often arrive when we let go and stop fixating on them.
It's a good feeling when you find yourself tackling life's challenges in a way you never thought possible. Taking care of your inner world tends to have a way of taking care of the outer world. It's mysterious but the more you journey inwards, the more you realise it's true. Kinesiology balances at regular intervals will help you stay on top of stress and less likely to succumb to all kinds of imbalances; physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. If you are prone to depression in the Winter months, taking a preventative approach is worthwhile.
